Music Monday: Awful Music Videos For Good Songs

There does come along every once and awhile the obnoxious music video that ruins the song.  Let's take a gander at some recent songs on the radio.

Exhibit A "Beat It" by Sean Kingston ft. Christ Brown and Wiz Khalifa.  Well this is sort of prime example of hip hop and R and B music videos nowadays but they don't all have to be this shitty.  Chateau in where now?  Buttless swimsuits?  Whatever that's fine.  But Sean, if you are going to hide behind a girl because you don't have the muscles of Chris Brown (who wants to watch him anyways, not to mention he's wearing a dress) or the lanky frame of  Wiz Khalifa don't make it so obvious.  Goodness gracious.

PS love that the top comment on this video on YouTube is "Oh course, Chris Brown is in a song called "Beat It"......"

Exhibit B  "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake.  Bleh.  I really really liked this song when I first heard it and I like the music video for "Suit and Tie", so I thought, this had to be good.  Nope.  The one and only saving grace of this video is the old people mirroring each other for about five seconds.  The rest is obnoxious.  I get his idea, people growing old together and all that, but it just doesn't work.  It's too slow or overly nostalgic for not enough information given, it's basically just trying too hard.  AND THEN it gets over that section and Justin is dancing around in a mirror room with clown chicks.  And the viewer goes.... huh.  Ok whatever J.

PS Apparently he did this music video for his grandparents... cute and I feel bad now... but not really?

Exhibit C  "I Need Your Love" by Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding.  Ellie Goulding is pretty adorable, but Mr. Harris proclaiming your relationship in a music video can be done better.  She is hot and you are happy yes.  But really, you run out of material (oooo you kissed!  got it already) in the first thirty seconds (enough of the bedroom videos) and all of those other people.... we're not interested in them.

PS Top comment on this one "I need a pussy!"  I guess you are making people feel something Mr. Harris.   Good one.

Then there is the GOOD stuff-
"Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities.  This music video actually made me like the song more.  Not only can these guys sing they can dance.  Who doesn't like that?  Cute.

"Same Love" by Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis.  The blind pastor at the end.  The best.

"Treasure" by Bruno Mars.  Love it, couldn't picture a better music video for this song.  Everyone needs to be quiet about him trying to be like MJ, he's not.  Calm down.
